Use and Maintenance
Use: Use your sleeping bag on a mat to protect it from rough surfaces. Avoid wearing dirty clothes inside the bag, as oils and dirt can reduce insulation over time.
Compression: Start rolling it from the foot end, releasing the air as you go. Use a larger compression bag for easier storage and a waterproof bag to protect it from moisture.
Storage: At home, store your sleeping bag loosely in a large cotton or mesh bag to maintain its loft. Never store it compressed.

FAQ
How should I store my sleeping bag after a trip?
Pack your sleeping bag loosely in a cotton or mesh stuff sack to preserve its loft and prevent damage. Avoid leaving it compressed for long periods of time.
Can I wash my sleeping bag at home?
Yes, but only occasionally. Use a front-loading machine with a mild, non-detergent soap and tumble dry on low heat. For down bags, add clean tennis balls to the dryer to restore loft.
What is the difference between synthetic and down sleeping bags?
Synthetic bags are more affordable, insulate even when wet, and are easier to clean. Down bags are lighter, more compressible, and offer superior warmth in dry conditions.
What temperature should I choose for my sleeping bag?
Choose a bag based on the expected nighttime temperatures. For summer, opt for bags rated 10°C and above, while cold weather outings require bags rated 0°C or below.
How do I prevent my sleeping bag from getting dirty?
Use a sleeping mat, change into clean clothes before bed, and consider a sleeping bag liner for extra protection and easier washing.
